Autumn Newsletter
2026

Welcome to our autumn newsletter! 🍂
In this edition, we’ll be sharing some lovely local businesses that I’d really like to introduce you to - wonderful businesses that are well worth supporting.
We’ll also be looking at our seasonal feature, all about our animals as we head into autumn and winter. We’ll be talking about some of the things we can do to help our own pets through the colder months, as well as ways we can support the wildlife around us.
I hope you enjoy it!

So here we are, heading into autumn.
We’re still enjoying some lovely mild weather, but the wind, rain and colder days are on their way. So this is a good time to start thinking about how we can help our animals as the season changes.
For dogs that need a little extra warmth or protection from the rain, we now have some lovely new coats in store. They range from simple waterproof coats, to three-in-one styles with fleece linings, right through to thicker coats that give plenty of coverage along the back.

For animals that spend a lot of time outside, especially cats, it’s worth making sure they have somewhere dry and sheltered to hide away. A cosy spot protected from the wind and rain can make a huge difference. Straw is often a better choice than blankets for outdoor shelters, as it doesn’t hold onto damp in the same way.
Our garden wildlife could use a helping hand too. Hedgehogs will soon be looking for places to hibernate, so please take extra care around piles of leaves, logs and garden debris. If you’re planning a bonfire, always check it carefully before lighting it, just in case a hedgehog has decided it looks like the perfect place to sleep.
Wild birds will also begin relying more heavily on the food we put out for them as we move towards winter. We have a wide range of bird food in the shop, including different seed mixes, peanuts, monkey nuts, suet balls, suet blocks, coconut halves and suet logs. High-energy foods such as suet are especially useful during the colder months, helping birds build up the reserves they need to keep warm.
And of course, Bonfire Night isn’t too far away. For pets who struggle with fireworks and loud noises, it’s worth preparing early rather than waiting until the fireworks begin. We have calming products in store, including Valerian Compound and calming chews, which may help support pets through what can be a very stressful time.
A little preparation now can make autumn and the start of winter much more comfortable for our pets and for the wildlife sharing our gardens.
Until next time!
